How to tie the perfect bow! Joan Gates style! Posted on 5 Oct 17:53 , 1 comment
When I was growing up I had a lot of people in my life who were amazing teachers. And I wanted to learn how to do everything so I was always a willing student.
Anyways, I lived next door to a lady named Joan Gates. She was a good neighbor, good friend and a good teacher! One day when I was about 12, I was over at her house and she asked me if I wanted to learn how to make the perfect bow? Of course and she taught me and I use it all the time! So in her honor we're all gonna learn "How To Tie The Perfect Bow!"
Here we go!
First take a length of your ribbon and make a loop and hold it with your left hand. Take the tail and bring it up and around the back of the loop.
Now, bring that end down in the front
Now with your right hand push that tail through the loop in the back and pull it through. Don't over think it. It's just like tying your shoes except backwards.
Pull tight, fluff the bow up, trim the tails to match (I like to do an sharp angle) and...
Voila! Perfect bow every time!
Thanks Joan Gates for teaching me something that I'll never forget and use all the time! I miss you!!
Now go make a bow! Joan would love it!
